One of the several houses in the district built in the mid-
1920 ' s to early 1930 ' s , on a site for which a sewer permit was
signed by Geoge P . Dier in 1919 , this house has the gabled entry
vestibule typical of many of those houses . Considering the
detailing and overall condition , this house is one of the
better examples of the numerous , modest houses built in styles
that post-date the Bungalow style .
The house may have been built for Arnold C . Durand , a watchmaker
employed by the H . A. Pease Co . jewelry store ( see .2 W . Main St . )
Durand , in any case , is listed as living here , with his wife
Lucienne C. Durand , in 1927 .
