PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance,
noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials.Discuss significant architectural features.
This detached one-story single-family residence has a rectangular plan with
a gable-roofed open front porch with solid railing and trellises. The
two-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of an offset front entrance
with 1/1 double-hung windows. The frame construction is finished in shingles
and rests on a concrete foundation. The gable roof is covered with brown,
blue and purple asphalt shingles and features a rear brick chimney. The
axis of the roof is perpendicular to the street. Outbuildings include
a garage.

On"e of the several modest houses attributed to local carpenter
Ora E . Long in the 19 ' teens , this house remains a fine example
of a typical Bungalow style house in Bozeman , despite the non-
contributing asbestos shingle sheathing .
In 1927 , Ralph T. Challender , an assistant professor at Montana
l State College , and his wife , Julia S . Challender , were living here .
