This detached one-and-one-half story single-family residence has a projection over the open front porch recessed into the corner of the main structure. The two-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of an off- set front entrance with 1/1 double-hung windows. The frame construction is finished in vinyl siding and rests on a cinderblock foundation. The gambrel roof is covered with green asphalt shingles and features dormers with shed roofs. The axis of the roof is perpendicular to the street. Outbuildings include a garage. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/Site and surrounding area lend the property significance. Research in the sources consulted in this survey has not yielded any significant historical information concerning persons or events associated with this property. This structure qualifies as a contributing element within a potential historic district due to its association with the residential aspect of the Civic Phase of Bozeman 's historic/architectural development. Luke Cowan is listed in the city directories of 1910- 11 , and 1912- 13 as residing at this address . In the first , his occupation is listed " laborer" , and in the latter , " carpenter. " In the 1904-5 directory , Cowan is also listed as a laborer , though renting on S . 3rd Ave . In 1916 , Cowan was living in 715 S . 7th Ave , another house he may have built .
