One of the most unusual houses in the district ( and an excellent
example of a pattern book design , ) this house borders Cooper
Park - a choice location befitting its high architectural
significance . The design was clearly based on "House Design No .
2006" of Hodgson ' s mail order house pattern catalog : Practical
Bungalows and Cottages for Town and Country ( see appendix) .
Modifications to the catalog design include the stucco wall surface ,
the bowed bay window in the right bay , which is topped by a
bowed section of the hip roof , and the decorative rafter tails .
The semi -circular cut-out of the recessed porch is taken directly
from the catalog design , and is unique in the district .
Albert S . Broat is listed as having lived here in 1910 , but
moved to Everett , Washington by 1912 . In 1921 William S . Erwin
probably lived here , while in 1927 , Ernest E . Stone , manager of
Montana States Telegraph and Telephone Co . , lived here .
