This detached one-and-one-half story single-family residence has been converted to a commercial structure with a rectangular plan and an enclosed front porch under a shed roof. The facade is asymmetrical and consists of an off-center front entrance with plate glass windows enclosing the front porch and 1/1 double-hung windows . The frame construction is finished in asbestos siding with shingles in the gable ends. The cross-axial gable roof is covered with light grey asphalt shingles and features flared returning eaves and a central brick chimney. The axis of the roof is perpendicular to the street. Additions include several large varicolored commercial signs incompatible with the architectural style. Outbuildings include a detached garage with a gable roof. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structurelsite and surrounding area lend the property significance. Research in the sources consulted in this survey has not yielded any significant historical information concerning persons or events associated with this property. Main 1985 revision Matt Cohen , surveyor A fine example of a typical pattern book house , though the architectural significance has been compromised by the enc- losure of the porch and the installation of asbestos shingle sheathing , this house was probably built in 1910 for Frank A. Waldorf , first vice-president of the Owen house Hardware Co . ( see 36 E . Main ) . In 1910 , Waldorf was listed as residing across the street from this row of houses , while in 1912 and 1916 , he was listed as living at 620 and 622 W .
