405 W . Olive
1985 revision
Matt Cohen , surveyor
A typical , tri -gabled vernacular example of the Queen Anne
style , this house is associated with the general expansion of
the city following the arrival of the Northern Pacific Railroad in
1883 . The Colonial Revival style porch , which is represented on
the 1912 Sanborn Map but no previous ones , was probably added
around 1910 . The present Chicago picture window in the gable
front may have replaced a bay window , such as that of 425 W .
Olive St .
In 1927 , David W . Wheeler , a road contractor , and Arthur C . Powell ,
a carpenter , were the residents here .
