One of the very best examples of the Colonial Revival style
in Bozeman , this exceptionally well -preserved pattern book
house was probably built in 1904 - at the beginning of
Bozeman ' s early 20th century building boom.
John McDonnell , a farmer and rancher , was probably the
original owner. McDonnell was listed as living here as
late as 1916 , and possibly longer ( city directories not
available ) . By 1927 , William S . Erwin , his wife Maisie M .
Erwin , and a boarder , Hal A . Bolinger , were living here .
The house is identical to 215 S . 3rd Ave . ( S . 3rd - S . Grand -
S . Willson Historic District)
