Matt Cohen , surveyor
Though non- contributing due to enclosure of the porch
and its incorporation into the interior space , this gambled
roofed house nevertheless maintains the scale , rythm , and
overall historical integrity of the streetscape .
The house was almost certainly built for Hiram Bascom Davis ,
a clerk at the W . E . Rider hand goods store on Plain St . , and
his wife , Ida W . Davis , a teacher at the West Side School
in 1904 , and by 1916 , the County Superintendent of schools .
The Davises are listed as living here as early as 1910 ,
but not as early as 1904 . By 1927 the house had been converted
to the " Davis Apartments " , and contained four separate units .
