This detached one-story single-family residence has a rectangular plan with a large open front porch across the front, with four squared wood supports and a solid railing and a slight roof overhang above the steps. There is an outside stairway on the side of the house for the upstairs apartment. The frame construction is finished in beveled siding and shingles and sits on a cut stone foundation. Windows are 1/1 double-hung with diamond patterns on part of the upper panes. The gable roof is covered with green asphalt shingles and features a gabled dormer to the front and a gabled dormer to one side. There are two brick chimneys, the front chimney is exterior. The axis of the roof is parallel to the street. Outbuildings include a garage attached to the rear of the house. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. Research in the sources consulted in this survey has not yielded any significant historical information concerning persons or events associated with this property. This structure qualifies as a contributing element within a potential historic. district due to its association with the residential aspect of the Civic Phase of Bozeman 's historic/architectural development. Curtiss , and may be the work of the same builder , possibly Rube A Young . The house was occupied in the 19 ' teens by Ervin H . Kleinschmi,dt , co-proprietor of Kleinschmidt & Schmidt cigar shop and billiard hall on Main • St . , and his wife , Alice M . Kleinschmidt , who was later listed as living here alone in 1927 .
