Curtiss 1985 revision Matt Cohen , surveyor A typical , well preserved example of the Bungalow style , this house is similar in massing and detailing to two others nearby, 619 W . Olive and 401 W . Curtiss , and may all be the work of the same builder, possibly Rube A . Young . E The house may have been first occupied by James M . Holderby , a millwright for the Bozeman Milling Co . , according to the 1916- 17 city directory , and an engineer for the Montana Flour Mills Co . , according to the 1927 directory . In both directories , Holderby , who signed the 1911 water permit for the site , is listed as living here . Curiously , in the 1910- 11 directory , James M . Holderby is listed as having " removed to Ogden , Utah . " In 1917 , Holderby may have commissioned the construction of 418 W . Curtiss .
