PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance, noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials.Discuss significant architectural features. This detached two-story multi-family residence has a rectangular plan with an attached shed. The one-bay facade is symmetrical and consists of a central transomed front entrance flanked by fixed windows and double-hung 212 windows with colored glass set in the upper pane. Wooden steps and railing lead to the hipped front entry porch which has a gabled eyebrow over the entry and turned wood columns supporting it. The frame construction is finished in white asbestos siding and the foundation is not visible. The gable roof is covered with asphalt shingles and features a gabled wall dormer over the entry and boxed eaves. There is one central brick chimney. The axis of the roof is parallel to the street. Outbuildings include a garage of 1 " x 8" drop siding. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structuretsite and surrounding area lend the property significance. Research in the sources consulted in this survey has not yielded any significant historical information concerning persons or events associated with this property. Curtiss ` 1985 revision Matt Cohen , surveyor I Closer in appearance to a farmhouse than an urban dwelling , this 3 x 2 bay , 12 story Classic Cottage , which has a central , gable wall dormer , is well preserved despite the asbestos shingle sheathing . Even the Queen Anne style entry porch remains intact . In 1927 , six people were boarding here : George E . Cass , who ran a carpet cleaning business on N . Bozeman Ave . , I his wife Amelia Cass , V . L . Yarson , Mrs . Denise Dusal , John P . Lewis , an assistant professor at Montana State College , and his wife , Marguerite R. Lewis .
