KERSON f I -- T--2 --T -I PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance, noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials.Discuss significant architectural features. This detached one-and-one-half story single-family residence has a square plan with a hipped-roofed front porch with gable overdoor supported by wood posts, and a bay window on the west. The one-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of an off-center front entrance with fixed and double-hung windows. The frame construction is finished in beveled siding with corner trim and scalloped shingles on the gable ends. The gable roof is covered with green asphalt shingles and features a gabled dormer and boxed returning eaves. There is a central brick chimney with a metal cap. The axis of the roof is perpendicular to the street. Outbuildings include a new garage with a shake roof which has been resided and converted to living space. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. Research in the sources consulted in this survey has not yielded any significant historical information concerning persons or events associated with this property. This structure qualifies as a contributing element within a potential historic district due to its association with the residential aspect of the Civic Phase of Bozeman 's historic/architectural development. Story 1985 revision Matt Cohen , surveyor A very well preserved example of a modest , turn of the century house , this house retains its original detailing such as ornate shingle work , Queen Anne window and full front porch . A house that was probably identical when built , 421 W . Story , has been covered with artificial siding . It is an important element in this streetscape of seven, mostly similar , turn of the century houses . In 1927 , Fred W . Bull , a probation officer , was the occupant here .
