Raised foundation of poured concrete and wood frame construction. 1993 remodel enclosed the original porch and added a fron stoop. Grey 4" bevel siding with darker shingles over the former porch dormer. Aceents and elemnts such as pilaster from original porch in white. Central chimney, and grey composite shingle gable roof features exposed rafter tails. Ends of roof capped in same finaials as 806 S.Tracy. Rear gargage features the same finials as the main house, and has the same siding and color scheme. Two bay doors feature 6 lights at top with wood imprints on rest of door. windows consist of 6 next to 6 sliding glass. CONSTRUCTION HISTORY Constucted by William C. Smith, who also bought the adjacent land and built 802 S. Tracy in 1916. Remodeled in 1993 under owners Patrick and Tina Lacione to enclose original porch and add front stoop. The original window was moved forward and materials were salvaged where possible. 1984 survey indicates it was three apartments at the time, as does the 1993 application for construction permits. Barthlomew as one of the last two housed in the district, distinguishable by its steeply pitched roof. 1927 City Directory indicates Harrison Keyser, owner of Keyser's outo Repair Shop, as living at the property at the time. Keyser bought the property in 1930, and though it is listed as being vacant in 1933,Edward G. Heller, a missionary was living there in 1935-36. Tracy PAGE 4 Site Number: 24 0 INTEGRITY(location, design, setting,materials, workmanship,feeling,association) The home retains its oringinal location and residential setting in connection with the surrounding neighborhood, thus has high integrity. The unfortunate remodel to enclose the porch is offset by the retention of original siding and reuse of original windows. This detached one-and-one-half story double-family residence with elements of the bungalow style has a corner entrance in a projecting gable. The one-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of an off-center glass-paned front entrance with fixed and double-hung windows of a 1/1 sash arrangement. The frame con- struction is finished in shingles and rests on a raised concrete foundation. The gable roof is covered with green asbestos shingles and features one gabled dormer and overhangin eaves and exposed rafters. There is one central interior brick chimney. The axis of the roof is parallel to the street. Outbuildings include a garage. Research in the sources consulted in this survey has not yielded any significant historical information concerning persons or events associated with this property Significance: This structure qualifies as a contributing element within a potential historic district due to its association with the residential aspect of the Progressive Phase of Bozeman' s historic.architectural development. INTEGRITY: Assess the degree to which the structure/site,and surrounding area accurately convey the historical associations of the property. The historic integrity of this property has been retained due to the survival of original design and materials and the continuity of use, setting and location. Tracy 1985 revision Matt Cohen, surveyor One of the two last houses built in the district, and distinguished from 1 the others by its steeper roof pitch, this house was built around 1923 by carpenter Elmer L. Bartholomew, and was temporarily lived in by the same (City Directory, 1925, p. 33) Bartholomew was one of Bozeman's most important early 20th Century carpenter/builders (also see Cooper Park Historic District) . By 1927, Harrison Keyser, proprietor of Keyser's Auto Repair Shop at 23 N. Wallace, was renting the property. In 1930, he bought the house from Bartholo- mew.
