This detached two-story single-family residence has a square plan with
mansard-style front porch supported by pillars , which is located in the
ell formed by an extension to one side of the front. The asymmetrical
facade has an offset front entrance and 1/1 double-hung windows on both
levels, the upper windows having gabled "dormer" roofs built into the
main mansard roof. The house is in the original vernacular Second Empire
style and features two central brick chimneys. and decorative corner brackets
on the mansard roofline. The structure is of brick.

This residence was built b_ nd for Alfred Lycan , an early Bozeman builder
who built many brick structures in Bozeman. This residence was for' his
own use.

Phase of Bozeman 's historic/architectural development.
