This detached, three-and-one-half story multi-family residence with elements of the Classical style has an irregular plan with an enclosed projecting front entry, and concrete steps. The five-bay facade is symmetrical and consists of a central glass-paned front entrance with six panes and 6/1 double-hung windows. The brick construction is finished in running bond pattern and rests on a concrete foundation. The flat roof is covered with built-up roofing and features a brick parapet with concrete cupping and one offset brick chimney. The metal roof ex- tension at the main entry and the transition from the YMCA to an apartment complex are the major alterations. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. This property is significant because this building is associated with a person important in_ Bozeman history, Fred F. Willson. Son of General Lester Willson, an early Bozeman resident, Willson born in 1877 in Bozeman. He was one of the first students at Montana State College. He attended Columbia University in architecture and studied two years abroad. He first practiced with C.S. Haire and later with Link and Haire. In his long Bozeman practice from 1910 to 1956, he designed public , commercial and residential buildings. Significant Statement: This property is already on the National Register of Historic Places.
