PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance, noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials.Discuss significant architectural features. This detached one-and-one-half story commercial structure is rectangular in design and an enclosed clipped-gable projecting entry with arched door is centrally located on the front facade. There is a bracketed gable overdoor above entrances on each side.Windows are 8/8 double-hung with segmental brick arches. The bearing wall construction is brick with fieldstone on the bottom and rests on a rubble foundation. The gable roof has clipped ends and is covered with green wood shingles covered by asphalt shingles. There are overhanging eaves and exposed rafters and a central fieldstone chimney. The axis of the roof is parallel to the street. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. This property was constructed as a result of a gift from a local benefactor, Mrs. E. Broox Martin. Montana State College professor of architecture, W. R. Plew designed the center for recreation, reading and use as a warming room for winter ice skaters. Plew also designed 1004 South Willson and 120 West Cleveland as residences for himself. The Beall Park Community Center also functioned for many years as the facility for the Bozeman Nursery School. Significance: This structure is potentially eligible for the National Register of Historic Places due to its historical associations and architectural signi= ficance. 1 INTEGRITY: Assess the degree to which the structure/site,and surrounding area accurately convey the historical associations of the property.
