MEETING DATE: March 5, 2018
AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to sign a Professional Services
Agreement with Peck Forestry, Inc. to provide $10,000 for fuel reduction planning and logistics
for Sourdough watershed.
BACKGROUND: The City of Bozeman Forest Management Plan, completed by Peck Forestry,
Inc. in 2010, sets forth recommended management actions to reduce the fuel load on timbered
properties owned by the City in the Sourdough municipal watershed. Management
recommendations dovetail with the Bozeman Municipal Watershed fuel reduction project
planned by the U.S. Forest Service on federal lands in the Sourdough watershed. The attached
professional services agreement (PSA) with Peck Forestry, Inc., provides for technical forestry
services to be performed on behalf of the City of Bozeman to work with the USFS to resolve
planning and logistics issues held in common for implementation of the USFS and City projects.
FISCAL EFFECTS: The adopted FY18 operating budget for Water Treatment Plant contains
$10,000 of planned funding for forestry consultant services. Adequate budget is available to
cover the PSA costs.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the Commission.
