• Gregg from Prime, Inc. gave the marketing report and website update. Overall traffic to
the website is up 43% in Q4 2017. Social media and pay per click are seeing significant
increases, so they will be increasing funds there. Facebook followers are up 127% over
last year, and Twitter followers are up 5,738% - though Twitter was new to the TBID at
this point last year, so it was just getting going and had minimal followers to begin.
• Craig Coles presented the grant request for the Bozeman Hardwood Classic. They are
seeking $15,000 in TBID funding for their basketball tournament at the end of January to
help fund the referee expense. The tournament is basically full at 160 teams, about 120
of which will be from over 50 miles away. That equates to an estimated lodging impact
of $172,000 to Bozeman. Carl motioned to approve $15,000 in TBID funding for the
Hardwood Classic, second by Eric. Motion approved with Andrew abstaining.
• Dax Schieffer from Voices of Montana gave a presentation on the impact of tourism to
Bozeman and Montana. It is estimated that the impact of non-resident tourism to
Montana in 2017 will be $3.3 billion, and about $432 million (13%) of this is spent on
lodging. They are seeking $6,000 in TBID funding for their program. Motion to approve
$6,000 in TBID funding for Voices of Montana by Andrew, second by Eric. Motion
approved.
