2. SUMMARY OF EVENT
Please describe the event in detail and what it is that you wish to accomplish.
BZN is an International Film Festival offering a platform for independent filmmaking and
creative expression supporting emerging and established voices. BZN believes that film
can effectively challenge racial, sexual and gender-based power structures, and can help
pave the way for real change. Indeed, any efforts to attain gender parity would do well to
support women's fair and equal access in the film industry. As such, BZN will offer a
Spotlight on Women for its inaugural Festival, and through films and events will celebrate
the advancements - and explore the challenges - of womanhood in film.
3. GRANT REQUEST PURPOSE
Please provide a one paragraph summary of the purpose of the funding request and what itwill
subsidize. Please focus on the specific element for which you are requesting funding.

states and/or regions you expect the participants to travel from. Explain your room night goals
and howthey will be measured.
BZN room blocks are for June 7 - 10, 2017 and expect that most visitors will stay 4 nights.
BZN website will encourage participants to arrive early and extend their visits by listing the
many wonderful things to do in the area listing local attraction web sites. Rural film
festivals around the world have become huge tourist attractions with people flying and
driving in from (the ends of the earth). I have provided a series of articles detailing the
value of film festivals and there are dozens more.
BZN will be paying directly for 60 plus Hotel rooms for filmmakers, Speakers and VIP's.
Pass holders will book their rooms using room block information listed on BZN web site
starting January 2018. Each hotel will report to us how many rooms were purchased.
S. ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
Please give a brief history of your organization.
The Bozeman Film Celebration was the creative idea of George Dorsey. Mr. Dorsey lived
full time in Bozeman when his children were little, one of his children attended MSU and
lives full time with her son in Bozeman. Mr. Dorsey has a true love for Bozeman and
Montana but with his work he lives between Bozeman and the east coast. He is vitally
aware of the value that the three plus year old Middlebury, VT Film Festival (MNFF) has had
on his town, Middlebury, VT and the surrounding area. Already a beautiful community with
Middlebury College, founded November 1800, set in town, strong art center and a good
tourist community and yet the town is trilled to have the four day festival that adds to its
value and tourist level. MNFF is the model for other activities that Bozeman Film
Celebration plans to build after the June Festival involving brining the award winning films
to multiple other communities in Montana and the neighboring states.
Mr. Dorsey owns Old Main Gallery on Main Street in Bozeman.
6. AVAILABLE RESOURCES

funding is recommended, a contract will need to be executed by the Bozeman TBID. A
detailed budget is required to be submitted with the application. If this is the second
year of funding please provide a Profit and Loss from the previous year.
I have attached our budget. Those numbers in are the most we will pay for these
positions but not what we are starting with when negotiating.
8. CHALLENGES
What are the primary challenges your organization faces with regards to this event.
The decision to spotlight women for this event was decided before the current
collective consciousness has stepped into this new territory of women and men in the
work force. My primary challenge is to create an event that offers information,
conversations, tools, etc... that supports all of us; men, women, girls and boys, the
opportunity to go forward as a more valuable civilization.
9. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Please provide any other comments that should be considered.
Additional challenge - This is the first year and that is always a challenge in every field. I
personally have a strong background in new events and with skillful and detailed
planning have been very successful. Nonetheless it is a challenge and lots of fun!
Additional challenge - Every day we receive film submissions from around the world.
Last night I watched a film written and directed by a woman, the subject was a young
family dealing with the realization and then raising their son diagnosed with autism. The
film was not brilliant but the compassion of the filmmaking was so truly heartfelt. A
huge challenge will be telling filmmakers that their film was not accepted.
