MOTION: Buck Taylor made a motion to approve the consent agenda as
presented except for #5 – the Montana Opticom for WIC Belgrade Internet
Installation and Service, which he understands the Board does not need to
approve as it is a year old contract.

surgeon general’s recommendations.

2. Health Officer Report
Matt Kelley invited the Board to attend a late January retreat with the Health
Department leadership to synthesize data from the community assessments.

Matt Kelley also reported that Montana Department of Public Health and
Human Services contacted him to offer an opportunity for ongoing funding for
additional two home visitors for Gallatin County.

Matt Kelley distributed a handout and reported on findings of the external
auditors for Gallatin County and recognized Keith Wilson and his work as a big
part of the department’s budget success

Report on the activities at the Health Department:
The flu season is winding down;
Busy in Environmental Health along with hiring for vacated sanitarian
positions and working through the septic permit backlog;
Working with Erin Arnold on enforcement cases

For the record, Matt Kelley discussed the issued expedited permit and
requested questions from the Board

Joe Skinner sits on the Western Montana Mental Health Board and reported on
the major funding reductions facing the mental health programs, program shifts
and employment situations.
Matt commented on the cascading effects due to mental health funding
reductions being seen in the community programs.
