DURB AppointmentsCommission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Brenda Sweeney, Deputy City Clerk Robin Crough, City Clerk SUBJECT: Appointment(s) to the Downtown Area Urban Renewal District Board (DURB) MEETING DATE: January 8, 2018 MEETING TYPE: Action RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to appoint one non-voting member to the Downtown Area Urban Renewal District Board to a position with a term ending June 30, 2018. BACKGROUND: The Downtown Urban Renewal District Board (DURB) currently has two vacant non-voting positions with terms expiring June 30, 2018. The Downtown Bozeman Improvement District Board (DURB) was created under the Urban Renewal Plan, which was adopted by the Commission under Ordinance No. 1409 on November 20, 1995. The Board consists of five voting members who shall have a demonstrated interest in downtown Bozeman, and two non-voting members. The Mayor shall appoint the members, with the advice and consent of the City Commission. In accordance with Section 7-15-4234, M.C.A., members shall serve staggered four-year terms. The voting members shall be residents of the city, and a majority of the voting members shall not hold any other public office under the municipality. Non-voting members must possess a demonstrated interest in downtown Bozeman and may represent a specified list of organizations which include, but are not limited to, the Parking Commission, Chamber of Commerce, MSU/Museum of the Rockies, Gallatin Development Corporation, Bozeman School District, City of Bozeman, Gallatin County and the Downtown Bozeman Association. Non-voting members need not be city residents. This board is administrative. This board currently has two vacancies.
