PSA with Arizona Regents for Future Shocks and Resiliency Training Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Natalie Meyer, Sustainability Program Manager Chuck Winn, Assistant City Manager SUBJECT: Professional Services Agreement for Future Shocks and City Resilience Staff Capacity Building Workshop MEETING DATE: December 18, 2017 MEETING TYPE Consent RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to sign a Professional Services Agreement with Arizona State University to facilitate a staff training on future shocks and city resilience. BACKGROUND: Future Shocks and City Resilience is a capacity-building workshop designed to teach participants sustainability ways of thinking and prepare groups and organizations to anticipate and prepare for future social and environmental disruptions. As part of this Professional Services Agreement, Dr. Lauren Keeler, assistant research professor Arizona State University, will design and facilitate the Future Shocks and City Resilience workshop for the City of Bozeman leadership team in February 2017. Also included in the workshop will be a guide and training session on workshop facilitation with members of the public and other organizations. The scope of work includes a customized workshop for Bozeman, a facilitation guide and training, customized pre-work, facilitation during the workshop, and a participant survey. The workshop will enhance interdepartmental collaboration while building understanding around sustainability, climate vulnerability, and a variety of hazards and stresses. The information generated from the workshop will be incorporated into a climate vulnerability assessment. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None FISCAL EFFECTS: The total cost of the workshop is $7,500, which will be funded jointly through the budgets of Public Works, Sustainability, Economic Development, and the City Manager.
