Whisman-Blair - Short Term Rentals, Air B&BFrom:Chris Mehl To:Agenda Subject:FW: Air B&B and new city ordinance Date:Sunday, December 10, 2017 12:30:58 PM _______________________________ From: Caroline Whisman-Blair <carolineblair85@gmail.com> Sent: Sunday, December 10, 2017 1:45 PM To: mehlchris@hotmail.com Subject: Air B&B and new city ordinance Hi there, We had briefly been in touch via email regarding the new ordinance that affects Air B&B hosts (and guests) here in Bozeman. My boyfriend and I have been hosting a private room in our home that we occupy since June. We really enjoy it as it has allowed us to meet travelers from all over the world and earn extra money that helps with big costs that come up like taking trips of our own, snow tires, vet bills, etc. The new city ordinance that affects short term rentals greatly limits our ability to continue to provide a room to rent through Air B&B. The fees to apply for the permit and the inspection are prohibitive for those of us who aren’t charging high fees. We charge $40 a night. If we continue past February we run the risk of a misdemeanor according to the ordinance. Is there any way to work on changing this as it just makes bozeman even harder to live in for those of us already working 2 jobs to make it here?
