Concisely, accurately, and completely describe the property and alterations with dates. Number the buildings and features
to correlate with the Site Map.
The building is a one-story commercial building with rectangular plan. Façade, facing north to E. Main St., is apparently
one bay, but is obscured by modern application of manufactured architectural metal-framed windows and doors and wood
siding above. Small portion of upper brick border is visible where wood siding is damaged and missing. Building is of brick
construction with modified Flemish-bond brickwork as exposed on south and west walls. The building's east wall is
common with the later constructed concrete block building at 714 E. Main Street to the east. Roof is flat and slopes to the
south. North wall has limited view of original brick wall which lies beneath recent wood siding but indicates same brick
pattern and terra cotta tile cap. West wall also has modified Flemish-bond brick pattern, has one large window, removed
(plywood), two small 4/2 shop windows, one loading door, and same terra cotta caps on brick wall. South wall has parapet
wall above roof on south side capped with flanged terra cotta caps on bricks. West end of south wall shows signs of former
southern addition to the building but former opening of extension has been filled with brick and measures 10'7" and is 16'7"
from southeast corner of building. A 2'6" wide coal door lies at base of south wall. South wall has no windows. Recent
detached frame storage with shed roof and T1-11 plywood which is located south of building. East wall of 712 E Main St.
butts the west wall of 714 E Main St. Top of brick parapet walls have flanged glazed terra-cotta coping tiles.
Building set back 30'6" from curb.
Unknown (concrete?) or on concrete pad.

Roof is flat and slopes to the south, covered with built-up material.

One detached rectangular wood-frame shed with shed roof and wood full-height sliding doors is situated approximately 20
feet to the south of the rear (south) wall of the building.

Façade on north has recent manufactured floor to ceiling windows and doors. Some recent replacement windows, original
industrial/factory metal sash windows exist on west and south elevations.

Limited readily available historical documentation exists for this property. The first Sanborn Fire Insurance Map for
Bozeman that shows this building in the correct location, configuration, materials, and dimensions is that of the 1927 date
(sheet 38). The Sanborn Maps indicate that the building was a Oil Warehouse with the business name of Continental Oil
Co. The first reference to a business at this address is found in the Polk City Directory of 1925 (page 42) with a listing of
Continental Oil Co. The 1922 City Directory does not list any business or occupant name for the same address. Available
information indicates that the building was constructed in approximately 1923.
