The building is a small detached one-story single family residence. The wood-frame building is on a rectangular plan with
a front-facing gable roof, ridge line runs north south perpendicular to Lamme St. The façade on the north side is one bay
with single entry door at center and recent metal clad window to the right. frame building is finished with recent pressed
board siding and T1-11 plywood at gable ends. Roof is finished with recent composition asphalt shingles. Small framed
flat-roofed shed/rear-entry addition is attached to west end of rear (south) elevation.

Small single-story frame dwelling first appears on the 1889 Sanborn Fire Insurance Map for Bozeman. The dwelling noted
is the same size and in the same location and configuration as the present structure. The 1884 Sanborn map shows the
same property lot vacant. The historic address for the property is 8 W Lamme St. The first entry for the property within the
Polk City Directory for Bozeman is a listing in the 1900 directory (pgs 145, 173), indicating the building was owned by the
principal resident, Sara E. Mitchell, widow of William Mitchell. Sarah (Sally) Mitchell is listed for the address in subsequent
directories through 1906. The 1900 directory also lists a W. Polk Ferguson, a farmer, as a border at the same address
through at least 1906.
