This detached one--story single--family residence has a rectangular plan with rear square addition. The one-bay facade is symmetrical and consists of a central entrance flanked by two double-hung six-over-six windows. The entrance has a shed- roofed porch supported by two squared posts. The frame construction is finished in asphalt siding with mineral cirques. The foundation is not visible. The gable roof is covered with wood shingles and features one interior brick chimney with corbelling offset to the left just behind the ridgeline. The axis of the roof is parallel to the street. Outbuildings include a shed. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. This residence property is associated with an early Bozeman settler Matthias (Cy) Mounts. With his brother-in-law, F. F. Fridley, another well-known Bozeman pioneer, Mounts moved to Bozeman in 1864 and spent the next 15 years freighting and prospecting around the Bozeman area. He settled permanently in Bozeman in 1879 and owned a saloon for many years. Significance: This structure is a neutral element within a potential historic district. INTEGRITY.
