This detached two-story single-family residence has an Lshaped plan with a shed- roofed porch across the front in the interior joint of the ell . The porch is supported by rectangular columns. The facade is asymmetrical and consists of an off-center front entrance with fixed and 1/1 double-hung windows with metal awnings, and a sliding sash window above the porch. A bay window is located on the east side. The frame construction is finished in asphalt siding and rests on a concrete foundation. The gable roof is covered with rust asphalt shingles and features boxed eaves. There is a garage to the rear. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the ersons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significs;,c . This property is signific:�:;t because it is associated with a person important in Bozeman historu, James D. McCamman. McCamman settled in the Bozeman area in 1865. He was appointed Gallatin County Treasurer in 1875 and was elected County Clerk later that year. He also engaged in sheep raising, and money lending. He was the first secretary and treasurer of the Gallatin bounty Pioneer Society in 1894. McCamman's residence is noted in Matt Alderson, tour of Bozeman. In 1902 McCamman built another residence at 601 West Main. Significance: This structure qualifies as a contributing element within a potential historic district due to its associations with the residential aspect of the Village Phase of Bozeman' s historic/architectural development. i INTEGRITY.
