This two-story commercial structure has a square plan with a metal awning over the central front entrance and a symmetrical facade completed by fixed, transomed windows and double-hung windows on the second story. The frame construction is finished in asbestos siding with drop siding on the gable ends. The foundation is not visible. , The cross-axial gable roof is covered with interlocking T asphalt shingles and features a gable dormer facing front and a central brick chimney. Theaxis of the roof is parallel to the street. Outbuildings include a detached building of concrete block. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structurelsite and surrounding area lend the property significance. This property was built for Julius Basinski, an early Main Street merchant who with his brother established a dry goods, mercantile business at 131 East Plain.
