This detached one-story single-family residence has a rectangul.,ar. plan-w.Ith an enclosed gabled front porch on the front. The two-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of a glass-paned front entrance with 1/1 double- hung windows and fixed windows. The frame consttruction is finished in smooth stucco with tucco trim and sits on a concrete foundation covered with stucco. The gable roof is covered with asphalt shingles of green and gold and has a brick chimney in the rear. The axis of 'the roof is perpendicular to the street. Outbuildings include a two-bay detached garage. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,andlor historical patterns associated with the structure/site and surrounding area lend the property significance. This two-story stuccoed brick structure was constructed in 1891 , replacing a frame house in the midst of Bozeman 's Chinatown. According to Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps of early Bozeman , the Chinese district became, by the 1890' s , a red light district which endured until after 1912. This house, among others , was an important establishment in the district. By the 1920's it had been converted to apartments. The house, of the "Classic Box" house type, has recently been refurbished and adapted for commercial use. i This structure is potentially eligible for the National Register because of Its historical significance and because of its architectural significance.
