Concisely, accurately, and completely describe the property and alterations with dates. Number the buildings and features
to correlate with the Site Map.
The building is a one-story commercial building with a rectangular plan and east wall is common to west wall of 225 E
Mendenhall St. Both buildings at 225/221 are of the same design, size, configuration, and materials indicating same
construction date. There is no clearance between the west wall of 221 and the east wall of the building directly to the west.
Building has a symmetrical façade with double commercial glass door entrance in center flanked by one, two-fixed pane
window on each side. Beneath windows on the façade is finished with horizontal boards. Façade has extended flat eave
overhang for the full width of building. Front edge of overhang is finished with recent corrugated metal siding and is
supported by knee-braces between each panel of windows. Boxed beams supporting south overhang are supported by
angular four by four inch truss supports at edges of fixed windows. East and west walls have short parapet extension
above built up flat roof that slopes gently to the alley on the north. The north (rear) side of building at alley is finished with
T-111 plywood.

Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps for Bozeman (1959 and 1960 revisions of the 1927 map, sheet 16) show a one-story wood
frame dwelling on the lot.
The 1968 Polk's City Directory for Bozeman (pg 101) shows the first reference associated with the address, with a listing of
John B. Williams. Directories for immediately previous years so no listing for the address. The 1969 City Directory (pg 57)
indicates that the offices of Lowe Realty Co. were located at that address.
