Concisely, accurately, and completely describe the property and alterations with dates. Number the buildings and features
to correlate with the Site Map.
The building is a small detached 1-1/2 story single family residence. The wood frame building follows an 'L' plan with the
main rectangular 1-1/2 story portion on the east, with gable ends on north and south, and a one-story perpendicular
addition, with gable ends on west and east, extending to the west and south. One-story extension to west and south may
be a later addition to 1-1/2 story mass to east. One-story mass to west has enclosed porch with four double-hung
windows. The façade on the north side is asymmetrical with a 1/1 double hung window off-center on the first floor and a
similar window centered on the second floor. Main entry is located at north end of west wall. Rear of building has addition
with shed roof and windows, doors. Building is finished with large composition (asbestos?) shingles. Roof is finished with
composition shingles. Foundation is concrete. Windows are combination of original wood sash and some recent double
hung metal clad windows.

1 1/2-story frame dwelling with "L" shape 1-story mass to west show in same location and configuration on property
depicted on 1889 Sanborn Fire Insurance Map of Bozeman. Previous 1884 Sanborn map does not extend to the north to
cover the area of Lamme St., so cannot confirm the existence of the building at that time. The 1890 U.S. Census for
Bozeman is not available, the 1900 U.S. Census (Enumeration Dist. 187, Sheet 11, Bozeman, Montana) lists Catherine
O'Connel, an émigré from Ireland in 1870 and a widow, lived at the subject property with her two sons and one daughter in
1900. The earliest Polk City Directory for Bozeman to show residents at the subject property is 1902 and lists Catherine
O'Connell, widow of John O'Connell, as the residence. O'Connel is listed for the same address through at least 1916.
