Concisely, accurately, and completely describe the property and alterations with dates. Number the buildings and features
to correlate with the Site Map.
The building is one-story commercial structure of complex form with recent remodeled addition to west within space
formed by original interior angle of "L". Older/original building at east is one-story brick on concrete foundation in a
rectangular plan with a curved entry corner on the southwest corner. The façade (south) is asymmetrical with two recent
commercial windows and entry door at southwest corner. Bricks are layered in a standard bond pattern with header bond
at curved southwest corner. Decorative pattern of bricks form a frame above and at sides of facade windows. Rectangular
plan with flat built up roof runs north south. Rear (north) of brick building has two concrete block additions extending the
rectangular plan to alley. West portion of building, filling the interior angle of the original "L" plan, is recent metal and glass
addition built approximately 2012. Original brick portion of south wall of building has all new remodeled interior and
commercial windows.

The 1927 Sanborn Fire Insurance Map (sheet 15) shows early one-story frame dwellings on this property. The dwellings
were demolished prior to the mid-1940s to afford the space to construct the existing brick building. The 1943 revision of the
1927 map shows the property as being vacant, but this may reflect data from 1941 or 1942 (see discussion of aerial photo
and City Directory listings below). The 1957-59 revision of the 1927 map shows the one-story brick structure as "Auto
Sales & Service" basically in the same configuration except for later brick and block additions to the north, and the recent
steel and glass infill to south façade "L".
The Polk City Directory for Bozeman, 1944 (pg 123) indicates a building at 135 (now 111) E Mendenhall Street, but the
building is listed as "vacant". The 1947 City Directory (pg 240) lists the same property as 115 E Mendenhall and occupied
by Knapp Motors.
The ca. 1942 Aerial Photo of Bozeman Main Street Area/North, shows the subject mid-century structure with original plan
corresponding to the same brick building that exists today (without additions).
A post-1959 photograph shows the original structure used as Lewis Upholstery. The brick building corresponding to 111 E
Mendenhall shows the original "L" shape of the façade on the south with the characteristic Long's Big-O Tire Company is
shown to the left (west
