PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance,

This detached two-story single-family residence has a rectangular plan
with an enclosed flat-roofed side entry-way,with slight projecting overhang.
The facade is symmetrical and consists of shuttered 4/6 and 6/6 double-hung
windows , the upper of which are under slightly raised shed-roofed "dormer"
projections from the main roof. The frame construction is finished in
stucco with wide horizontal siding in the gable ends and on the entry
addition to the side. The clipped gable roof is covered with asphalt shingles
and lies parallel to the street.

This property is significant because this residence is associated with a
person important to Bozeman history, Rudolph Vogel. Born in 1852 in
Switzerland, Vogel emigrated to the United States in 1868 and to Montana
in 1881. Two years later, he and a partner in Fred Buchler opened the
Tivoli in the present 17 East Main. The„saloon was a popular gathering
place for many years. In 1883, he purchased a ranch north of town and
eventually moved out to the land. Vogel kept this house in town until
1916.
This structure is a neutral element within a potential historic district.
