Chris,
While we all appreciate the need for neighborhoods in Bozeman which provide affordable housing, it is
not the City of Bozeman's authority to modify existing legally zoned single family neighborhoods to
accommodate such an individual need. It is clear that the Baxter Meadows West Subdivision (and in
particular Clydesdale Court) was designed and approved by the appropriate City Officials to
accommodate SINGLE FAMILY HOUSEHOLDS and NOT MULTI-FAMILY UNRELATED
HOUSEHOLDS. This Conditional Use Permit request involves the City of Bozeman changing the
originally designed and legally approved use of a neighborhood, and has nothing to do with the quality or
intentions of the families requesting the CUP. If the City of Bozeman grants this CUP, it would open the
door to many potential similar type requests (could be two, three, four, etc. unrelated families) which
would undoubtly result in multiple legal challenges.
