To whom it may concern:
I am a resident of Baxter Meadows and live very close to this home that is in question. This isnot an issue of whether or not these are good families (likely, they are great people) or whether
the home is large enough to accommodate more than one family but it is important to point outthat this permit is altering the planned use for this set of homesites and sets a precedent that
can affect the perception of the value of the Baxter Meadows development in general.
Aside from the obvious things like the need for additional parking on the street, additional anduncompensated wear on amenities, limiting the number of families to two and not allowing
more and the legality that comes from enforcing violations with fractional ownership: Thehome would really need to be taxed as two units, fees collected as if it were two units, an
association would need to be created to care for the common areas of ownership that wouldperform regardless of relationship status of the multiple families inhabiting the property. Who
is responsible if not a third party for the lawn or code violations if Family “A” insists thatFamily “B” or “C” needs to take action?
The most important thing to keep in mind is that Baxter Meadows is a carefully planned
subdivision and it is marketed and sold (from purchase to monthly HOA payments) toresidence as such. The Subdivision has already planned for and set aside sites that are
acceptable for multi-family dwellings. Allowing the permit is allowing a disregard for therules of the subdivision and undermines the ultimate authority of the City of Bozeman and the
Baxter meadows subdivision.
Thank you for your most careful consideration of our opinion and others who are actuallydirectly affected by this most important decision.
