City Commissioners,
Monday November 6th I went to the City Hall to discuss my 2018 Fiscal Year Taxes. I started @
the City Clerks office, Brenda Sweeny referred me to the Treasurer's Office to talk to Laurae
Clark.
I expressed to her that in 2017 my City Taxes went up 19% & for the coming year have gone
up 36%
If I understood her correctly, she expressed to me that the City Taxes were based on the
Gallatin County Dept. of Revenue's current assed values sent out to Tax Payers July 3,2017.
And that it is not known if the City Commission will make another big increase in taxes for the
2019 Fiscal Year.......
I appealed the Gallatin Count Dept. of Revenue's assessed value of my property & had a
hearing on July 26, 2017. The Tax Appeal Board favored in my behalf, & lowered my Current
Assed Value Down $27,300. I have been a Bozeman Tax Payer for forty two years and I feel I
have the legal right to be able to sit down with someone & discuss my taxes!!
I want to know if my 20018 City taxes were based off of the Gallatin County's Assessed Value
sent out July 3, 2017? Or were my 2018 City taxes taken from the July 26, 2017 assessed
value determined by the Gallatin County Tax Appeal Board?? If not taken from the Gallatin
County Tax Appeal Boards decision of July 26, 2017, I feel an adjustment is due to my 2018
City Taxes!!
Again on behalf of all the Bozeman Seniors on a fixed income, please do not tax us out of our
Homes!
Anxious to hear from you!
Respectfully,
Tim Linn
