Commission Memorandum
REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission
FROM: Bob Murray, Project Engineer Rick Hixson, City Engineer SUBJECT: 5.3 Million Gallon (MG) Water Storage Reservoir Project - Amendment
No. 3 adding the design of Phase I of the Sourdough Transmission Main.
MEETING DATE: November 6th, 2017
AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent
RECOMMENDATION: Approve and authorize City Manager to sign Amendment No. 3 with Robert Peccia and Associates.
BACKGROUND: Attached is a copy of the partially executed Amendment No. 3 with Robert
Peccia and Associates for the 5.3 Million Gallon (MG) Water Storage Reservoir Project. The document is in the City’s standard format.
This amendment is to add the of design Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) item WIF39, Phase I of the Sourdough Transmission Main. The purpose of this main in twofold. First, it will provide
the needed redundancy for supply from the plant to town. Currently there is only on supply line
from the water treatment plant to the Sourdough Storage Reservoir. If something were to happen to this main, the plant would not be able to supply water to town until repairs are made. This new main will provide a second feed for half the distance between the plant and the storage reservoir. The other half will be completed under a future CIP item.
The second reason for the main is that it will provide necessary hydraulic improvements to allow
the entire volume of the new storage reservoir currently under construction to be utilized. The existing transmission main has a high point at the Nash/Sourdough intersection that will not allow the new tank to be drained, or the full working volume to be utilized. The route of this new main will not have that high point.
