Krob - Davis & Oak IntersectionFrom:Brenda Sweeney To:Brenda Sweeney Subject:Feedback for City Of Bozeman Date:Tuesday, October 31, 2017 3:23:17 PM From: Bozeman, MT [mailto:webadmin@bozeman.net] Sent: Tuesday, October 31, 2017 1:16 PM To: Web Admin <webadmin@BOZEMAN.NET> Subject: Feedback for City Of Bozeman You have received this feedback from T.J. Krob < summit_dude@hotmail.com > for thefollowing page: https://www.bozeman.net/Home/Components/News/News/1224/17? backlist=%2fgovernment%2fstreets%2fstreet-reports Oak is now open? This is what the city has deemed should become our Davis and Oakintersection?! By golly....what another screw botched city plan. I have several questions - all of which are coming from a 31 year old MSU Master's educated Mechanical Engineer in thetransportation industry, Bozeman Native who calls "old Bozeman" home remembering when 19th street didn't exist, 7th was the only route to end up accessing Springhill, we prided ourtown on building real homes (not 3000 sq. ft cookie cutter bits stuffed into a 4800 sq ft lots a mere 8' from your neighbors window) and our streets were fun, well maintained and easy toschlep around. Enough is enough of this mis-guided development and time to alert whoever will listen to what is becoming of my town. - First --- who is our city planner? Who decidedthat this (in particular) Davis/Oak junction should be built in this manner and what public feedback was sought? You are building our roads - and you work for us. You can read all youwant about how Roundabouts "work" but This is Montana - we don't do roundabouts. The first botched attempt was Baxter/Ferguson which has proven its ability to topple trailers into theditch. If you can't build them right STOP DOING IT. Massive curbs do nothing but leave piles for where snow can build up.... - Which is a great segue into the next manner? Does the streetsdepartment really think plows will be able to plow this rats nest of a spider web? I anticipate at least 7 vehicles sliding into curbs, bouncing off of your signs and becoming damaged byinability to keep them clear and by constructing the curbs in the first place. - Curb height? Have you seen these? Can you remember back ~10 years ago when a tall curb killed aBozeman teenager? Seriously --- now you want us to drive around these in a circle - mind you that we pull trailers - BIG ONES. All while already trying to avoid a giant manhole cover(pothole) in the center of the driving lane when heading west on Oak. - Another Segue ---- apparently the only sane civil engineer to come through was the guy who learned to putmanhole covers in the center of the road where no one drives on the newly paved Ferguson instead of right in the tire rut. We all know these covers can be placed almost anywhere withrisers can get them out of traffic instead of under my tire. 19th is a horrid speed-bump fest between College and Kagy and they've repeated this misguided installation here in thisroundabout. - Where does the ridiculously narrow road in housing developments come from? Not my town. Have you tried to drive down any new area with the protruding curbs (whichagain are never plowed adequately thus reducing width even further) and meet another vehicle? Good luck if you have tow mirrors, or by chance you can meet someone who actuallydrives decent. Go back to decent road widths and problem solved. OR implement an odd even day for on street parking where we only allow parking on the odd side of the road on odd days, and vise versa to permit cleanings, plowing, and to increase quality of life in the area. Regarding these comments, please feel free to contact me. I'm happy to describe in furtherdetail how planning has lost touch with what I call home. Listen to your long time residents, NOT out of town developers or new import blood who are changing this great place. OR, ifthere is any literature for review on where Bozeman might be headed, please do forward it to me. ~T.J. Krob Devout Bozemanite, and concerned citizen.
