To the Commissioners, Recently, reading the New Yorker of Sept 18, I came across this in an
article about how civilization started. It refers to a book by James C. Scott: "'Seeing Like aState', has become a touchstone for political scientists, and amounts to a blistering critique of
central planning and 'high modernism,' the idea that officials at the center of a state knowbetter than the people they are governing. Scott argues that a state's interests and the interests
of subjects are often not just different but opposite." Of course he is talking about moregrandiose decisions, but it made me think about the numbers of Bozeman citizens who are
actively in opposition to the 5 story buildings next to single family homes. There sure seem tobe a lot more of them speaking up.....so why do you think you know what's best for us?
Especially for citizens who have made Bozeman home for a long time while developers comeand go and never stop developing?
Anyone a TJ Starr fan on YPR? The Saturday Show on Sunday? Yesterday he played a song
about the urban planner who " destroys the community in the name of improving it."
Please change the B3 zoning so close to homes and spare our town. You know there is no waythat the growth is going to slow in the outlying areas anyway. So don't sacrifice our town.
