Barnes - Black Olive IIFrom:thia barnes To:Agenda Subject:Black-Olive Proposal Date:Saturday, October 14, 2017 12:11:47 PM 10.14.2017 Dear Mayor Taylor, Deputy Mayor Andrus and City Commission Members, I am writing to you yet again, to request that you deny the Black-Olive project as submitted. The city has parking rules and regulations for a reason. If a development as designed can not meet the parking requirements, please do not waive the requirements to assuage the developer. Since Bozeman is a hot market for development, we do not need to "entice" development by waiving these requirements. HomeBase is adamant about the City following the rules for developing a property, yet they want an exemption for the parking rule. Why? I have yet to hear a compelling or convincing argument as to why the parking regulation should be waived for them. Instead, I am hearing the citizens of our town talk about all the deleterious effects the current design with it's inadequate on-site parking will have for this area of town. The building is simply too big for the property and too invasive for East Olive Street. There are many examples of multi-family and clustered housing unit types that blend well into single family home neighborhoods. This is not one. Please show inspired leadership and vote no to this inappropriate building. I do not need to list why this design is so wrong for the location, for you have heard them many times from the citizens who show up for the meetings, to be put off time and again. HomeBase will find other properties in Bozeman to develop that are more suited to their monolithic designs. This location is simply not the right fit for their building style. For the members of the council who have gone on record saying that they support affordable housing for our city, the Black-Olive project does nothing to alleviate this concern. Thank you for your consideration, Cynthia D Barnes 317 South Bozeman Avenue
