Dear Commissioners – Recently, my husband and I visited Champaign, IL where we lived for 5 years. It was
30 years since we have lived there. We expected changes, but changes to the old campus town, that had
shops and restaurants in old well kept building, were horrifying. There was in fill and tall buildings. The
charm was gone. We did not visit the spot. I only thought that this is how Bozeman will look in a couple
years if tall, modern looking building keep populating downtown. The tall buildings may not be on Main
Street, but I feel close in by them.
Please do not vote for the proposed building on Black and Olive. It just does not fit in. The tall buildings on
Mendenhall have already changed the area. The downtown and historical areas give Bozeman the old
feeling of the town. Most people except developers want that feeling of community. People make mistakes.
Tell the public the new zoning in that area was a mistake. Please have these building near where real
people can walk to shopping like on Oak or near Kohl’s.
Thank you,
City Of Bozeman
