HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-11-17 Public Comment - R. Brown - Black Olive IIFrom:Richard Brown To:Agenda Subject:A Denouement Date:Wednesday, October 11, 2017 7:38:32 AM Dear Commission: Bozeman is full of creative people driven primarily by the altruistic desire to move it comfortably into the future but, sadly, 'we' have been ignored by the Commission in favor of ashort sighted triage satisfying but a few - ultimately leaving in its wake a soul-less and over crowded generic downtown. As your re-make of Bozeman plays out, I believe that some of you may look back at your ill-informed decision and regret it; egos will not allow this epiphany of others. Your broad-brush decision to change zoning was your answer to what you perceived as a problem. Its impact onhow it affected near-by citizens was not important to you and was obviously never considered. Had your decision resulted in a Black/Olive appearing in your own back yard, itwould have thrown out in a split second. It has been beyond frustrating to watch as the 'self interested/self absorbed' have taken control and have happily driven the Bozeman over the cliff. I was told two years ago by a friend that,"You can't fight City Hall" - and he was right. The juggernaut that was set into motion long before it became public - is unstoppable. I have lost all faith in Bozeman's questionable 'democratic process'. Citizen Advisory Boardsare a sham. (I was a member of the BHPAB once but after we were ridiculed in a Commission meeting, I quit.) I feel like a foreigner in my own home town. I moved 'home' to enjoy myretirement life here but it has turned into a greedy feeding frenzy that is destroying The Last Best Place. I shall no longer waste my breath, energy, or ink on trying to stave of this man-made tsunami. I will explore where I might go next, and I am not alone. Richard Brown B(Senior)HS Class of 1968
