Hello City of Bozeman Commissioners,
I want to first thank you for your service to our great city and the many hours you devote to
make it such an amazing place to live. I would like to take a few minutes of your time to sharewith you my support for the Conditional Use Permit for the Kirby/Radoslovich house.
As a Bozeman resident for the last 6 years I am amazed at how much this city has grown in
such a short amount of time. Even with the unprecedented amount of new homes being builtwithin city limits the price of homes continues to rise. As someone who was very lucky to buy
at the low point in the market (July 2012) and who is looking at selling their home currentlywe have seen $135,000 in appreciation on our home. That is amazing for us but it makes me
stop and think how a family just starting out like ours was in 2012 afford a home that is worthover $400,000.
I believe that granting this CUP will help to alleviate some of the pressure the housing market
here is experiencing as well as help to increase, albeit minimally, the density of ourneighborhoods. Other benefits to the permit will be the ability for ride sharing to and from
work since both family work on campus at MSU. There will be double the amount of adults inthe home to maintain a level of cleanliness and upkeep on the property.
I have known the Kirby family for my entire time of living in Bozeman and can speak first
hand to their willingness to make their neighborhood a better place. Matt bought asnowblower to be able to help his elderly neighbors with snow duty at his previous home. He
worked tirelessly to make improvements to his home to maintain a level of appearance and tohelp maintain property values to those around him.
While I think that this CUP is not the norm for Bozeman it is a growing trend around the
country as property values continue to outpace peoples budget to be able to afford somethingadequate for their family. I would ask that you consider granting the CUP for Cooperative
Housing for the Kirby family. Thank you for your consideration and time.
Sincerely,
