Wood - Black Olive II1 Robin Crough From:Shana Wood <shanawood@q.com> Sent:Monday, October 9, 2017 4:46 PM To:Agenda Subject:Black Olive II Categories:Public Comment Dear City Commissioners and Planners:    I urge you to deny approval of the Black Olive project as currently designed. I do not have time nor eloquence of  argument or writing to detail all the reasons. Suffice it to say the building as designed:    1. Does not fit the character of the neighborhood. It is too tall and too massive and too ugly and offers no compromise in transition to the directly adjacent, historic neighborhood. 2. Will not enhance downtown; it will detract from downtown because it does not provide enough parking. And while as a community we should not be complacent about the vibrancy of our downtown, I think our downtown will continue to thrive because it offers unique experience no longer readily available in our society. 3. Might on paper satisfy the requirements of zoning but it has also met with vociferous and dedicated opposition from those in the neighborhood and community at large. You will be setting a precedent either way you decide. If you decide to allow the project you will be alerting developers that the city of Bozeman is willing to subsidize development projects on the backs/pocketbooks of neighbors and community. If you decide against the project you will be alerting developers that Bozeman cares about neighborhood character and how projects fit into the community. The current developer of Black Olive needs to work with the neighborhood to come up with a compromise on mass/scale and parking.   I urge you to require this project to meet the concerns of local residents by adapting its design and parking  requirements.  Sincerely,    Shana Wood  506 Cottonwood Street, Bozeman, MT
