Subject:Support for joining lawsuit challenging consitutionality of I-183

Dear Commissioners,
I recommend the City of Bozeman join the ACLU-led lawsuit challenging the constitutionality
of the proposed ballot initiative, I-183, known as the Montana Locker Room Privacy Act. Thisact would require a person using a locker room or bathroom inside a government building or
public school to use a facility that is designated for that person’s sex at birth.
- This is wrong. This is errant, false morality imposed.
- The only people likely to be affected deeply will be students and government employees.Generally speaking these are the last people (a) seeking attention, and (b) who need
condemnation from self-proclaimed morally superior people. This is therefore a hateful act.
- Will have disastrous economic consequences for Montana, and therefore Bozeman.
- I-183's primary sponsor is the most heavily financed hate group in Montana - the MontanaFamily Foundation - who expresses their version of religious intolerance by primarily seeking
to limit the rights of others or through the diversion of public moneys for their self-servingcauses. Go to their web site, watch their "justification" video, and try to understand the logic
that leads them to this bill - there is no basis, except in illogical fear. And hate.
- It is not the amount of the support to the ACLU that is important (even $100 should do it -I'll pay), but demonstrating Bozeman's support for the cause so that the perception of Bozeman
is that of a good place, and particularly a good place for others. This is also essential inrecruiting business talent to the area.
Let me know how I can help, if I can. And thank you.
