Rouse Ave. Bozeman, MT First Name Chris Last Name Shaida Email Address pcshaida@gmail.com Phone Number 646-543-5505 Comments I am in support approving the Black Olive project because I am in support of approving projects called for in the City’s plans and zoning laws and because density is good for the long-term health of the community. I own a residence on Bozeman Avenue. Other than that I have no other property or development interests in Bozeman. I am engaged in the larger questions of growth and density because I intend to live in downtown Bozeman for a long time and because I’m in a position to create jobs here. As someone who has created some 500 jobs in a variety of places I need three things in order to make the jobs sustainable: 1. attractions of place - reasons for people to live in a place independent of the job I’m offering 2. good places to live and 3. a municipality geared to managing growth and sustaining the attractions of places and ensuring places to live. Right now Bozeman is fantastic as a place to live but poor in providing living spaces. The City for decades been declaring that density brings substantial benefits -- it yields more people walking to and supporting local businesses, less car traffic and cleaner air, a broader tax base to benefit all citizens and more accessible housing for those choosing to live with limited car usage. The City and the Commissioners have done a fantastic job of providing forums for input and have listened, and listened and listened to the noisy few. Now is the time to act for the many and follow through on decades of planning and promises and get more housing built downtown.
