I live, and have lived off and on for 58 years, at the end of Bridger Drive, within the City limits. First, for at least three to four months (perhaps longer) construction on North Rouse from the underpass railroad crossing onto lower Bridger Drive ending at about the entrance to AutoBody Experience has degraded the road structure to a bumpy dirt road often reduced to one lane with flagmen and women during weekdays causing lengthy delays. No disrespect is intended towards the construction workers and flag persons, but the only progress I see is continual digging of holes and piling up dirt in or near the same place. The City never informed affected residents and businesses of the purpose of this construction and length of time it would last. In all the time I have lived here I have never seen it so bad. Second, on Tuesday October 3, 2017 I called for an ambulance to take me to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital as I was experiencing serious medical conditions. The AMR ambulance company is located off Griffin Drive just before the construction site (that also includes part of Griffin Drive on both sides of North Rouse). The ambulance was delayed arriving at my home. Then, to my surprise, shock and consternation, the ambulance traversed the entire construction site to transport myself to the hospital instead of taking the recently paved and obstacle free Story Mill Road, a more direct and swifter approach to the hospital. The ambulance with myself inside incongruously actually waited in line before the flag persons. When I asked why they took this obviously longer and much bumpier route, I was told it was policy from someone higher up. Whether this is hospital, city or ambulance company policy it is silly, stupid, and potentially harmful to the transported patient. Someone in City management needs to supervise the construction, communicate with the residents and businesses, and reverse the idiotic prohibition of using Story Mill Road by ambulances policy. Do we really want a GW Bridgegate scandal here? Michael H. Ditton Bozeman Thank you, City Of Bozeman This is an automated message generated by the Vision Content Management Systemâ„¢.
