Jackson - Black Olive II1 Robin Crough From:Erin Jackson <erinjackson19@gmail.com> Sent:Sunday, October 8, 2017 5:13 PM To:Agenda Subject:Black Olive Comments Categories:Public Comment Hello, I am not able to make it to the meeting tomorrow night so I want to send along my comments. I am opposed to the Black-Olive development as it is proposed for a few reasons. First and foremost, this development is not going to provide much needed affordable housing in Bozeman. The luxury apartments will continue to increase the cost of housing in our city, rather than helping those that are in need of housing they can afford. Second, there is inadequate parking for the number of apartments, which will lead to congestion and parking issues. If the city put more of an emphasis on creating biking and walking friendly roads, this may not be as big an issue, but in the current state of the roads, people will likely continue to drive. In addition, having this many cars in this area will make biking even more unsafe. Third, this development is not proposed to be built with sustainable, energy efficient components in mind. Any building of this scale should be required to be solar powered with energy efficient building materials and a high R-value. Cities across the world are prioritizing renewable energy and efficiency, and this proposal inadequately addresses this need. Lastly, this building does not take into account the character of the historic neighborhood. While I believe we should infill instead of develop on our world-class farmland, this building will overfill the area and set a dangerous precedent for future developments that do not address the concerns of the neighborhood. Vote NO for the proposed Black-Olive development. Thank you for listening to the concerns of your constituents and voting for the future of Bozeman as a community-oriented city. Sincerely, Erin Jackson
