City Commissioners & Mayor Taylor:
Please ask yourselves two questions:
1) Who are your constituents and what do the majority want?
2) What has changed since your April 11th denial?
I will only comment on the second. Very little has changed. Granted the number of units has
been reduced and a few more parking spots added but the number of bedrooms has increased
thus requiring even more parking space than the previous version. Parking is a huge issue and
the city needs to take it seriously. You are not going to discourage vehicle ownership in a city
that thrives on outdoor recreation by limiting parking space. What you will do and it is already
happening is discourage people from coming into downtown Bozeman. I am already hearing
comments like "thank God for Sidewinders, now I don't have to fight for parking downtown".
So what hasn't changed:
‐The building is still ugly and out of character with the adjacent neighborhood
‐The building is too tall for the location
‐The majority of property tax payers do not want it as proposed
‐Most importantly it severely lacks adequate parking space
