RECOMMENDATION: Select the city manager and direct the interim city manager to negotiate an employment agreement for final City Commission approval. RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to select _____________ for the position of city
manager, and direct the interim city manager, city attorney, and human resources director to
negotiate an employment agreement with ______________ for the City Commission’s review and approval. BACKGROUND: After an extensive nationwide search for a new city manager conducted by
the city commission, the interim city manager, the human resources director, and Mr. Ron
Holifield, CEO, Strategic Government Resources (SGR), the executive recruitment firm hired by the City of Bozeman to assist in the recruitment and selection of the next city manager, SGR received 82 applications for the position of city manager. The field of candidates for the position of city manager was narrowed by the City Commission to six finalists for the position who were
invited to Bozeman for the final selection process conducted on September 25, 26 and 27, 2017.
On September 27, the City Commission further narrowed the field of city manager candidates to two finalists and requested that SGR conduct additional due diligence on each finalist and report back to the City Commission.
FISCAL EFFECTS: To be determined by the City Commission.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the Commission.
